Fused glass freestanding curve of kites soaring through clear blue skies, above high blue hills, and rolling blue river waters. We get an abundance of kites here in west Wales – their stronghold when numbers were low elsewhere. I love watching their mastery of the air, tale and wings tilting to catch the air for it to take them on their way.
This panel is created by layering powders and paints on each side of the glass, and I’ve slumped this so that you look into the curve, into the landscape. Ferns gathered from just outside my studio have been printed onto the bottom section of the panel – the thin white glass in this part gives a lovely softly diffused light.
This is a one-of-a-kind glass creation, not a repeatable or ongoing series of the same. There is only one of these glass panels and I will never make another exactly the same.
It looks amazing with the sun shining though, or against a white wall. I’ve included a photograph of the panel with a light behind it too – another option!
